Software Quality Assurance Specialist

Position Overview

Since 1997, SeisWare™ International Inc., a CMG Company, has successfully grown to be an industry leader in the development, sales, and support of geoscience software within the energy industry. In July 2025 we joined the Computer Modelling Group Ltd. (CMG) family, a global leader in energy software solutions.

We are looking for a full-time Software Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team based in Calgary, Alberta. This is an early intermediate role for someone with 3-5 years’ experience. You must be able to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to new situations or tasks. A strong attention to detail, keen analytical skills and genuine curiosity will help you thrive. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task are a requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, regression, acceptance, and patch tests to ensure product quality and release readiness
  • Perform manual and automated testing, including functional, regression, and exploratory testing
  • Identify, isolate, document, and track defects through resolution using defect tracking tools
  • Actively participate in Agile (planning, stand‑ups, reviews, retrospectives) and collaborate closely with developers and product teams
  • Analyze product features, requirements, and workflows to identify risk areas and potential user issues
  • Validate user interfaces for consistency, usability, and functional accuracy
  • Use SQL scripts to validate data and support testing across databases
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Provide clear, timely, and constructive communication on testing status, risks, and outcomes
  • Support release activities by validating fixes and ensuring regression coverage is complete

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with or exposure to geoscience software is an asset
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and test scripting is a strong asset
  • Experience in an Agile environment is an asset
