Hi, I’m Nick Archer, I am a senior QA at SeisWare and have been with the company for 8 years. I went to school for Computer Science at the University of Calgary. While I was still in school I got my start by co-founding an international volunteer placement NGO, this gave me an opportunity to feel like I was giving back, even if only a little, while still working on my technical skills, building and maintaining the organization’s website. Right after I graduated I started at with SeisWare and I have been here ever since.
I hadn’t initially planned on becoming a QA analyst when I was coming out of school but after interviewing with SeisWare I took a chance and jumped into the role. Having little knowledge in geoscience I thought that my introduction to QA was going to be a little rocky (that’s an attempt at a pun), but being surrounded by so many awesome and supportive coworkers I feel like I was provided with a very solid foundation. Since then I’ve come to really enjoy the work that I do, It’s been a great experience and I have had so many opportunities to learn and grow over the years and through our volunteer program I feel like I am still able to give back
When I’m not working I try to spend as much time out in the woods camping and hiking as I can. When I’m stuck in town I split my time between jamming with my band, playing in a pool league or trying to keep up to date with the SeisWare book club.
