Hey! I’m Marko Gauk, and I’ve been helping people use SeisWare for 9 ½ years. I’ve been a member of the Support Department since I graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc. In Geophysics. If you’ve ever called the support line, you’ve probably talked to me.
I love helping people figure out ways to solve new challenges, whether that means using SeisWare in a new and creative way, or busting out some code and building a program in Python. When a client asks about a problem that can’t be solved with our existing software, one of the best parts of my job is when I can write something to get it done. I’ve been lucky enough to work with a team that supports me getting to do that kind of work.
A couple years ago, I was able to host SeisWare’s first hackathon, and I would have hosted a second, if not for the darn pandemic. Hopefully in the future we’ll host another one and get lots of creative people in a room making cool stuff. It’s great that the company let me run something that’s not at all part of my job description.
When I’m not working, you can find me cheering on the better of the two Albertan NHL teams (Go Oilers!…current divisional standings may not apply here…) or hanging out at one of the local rock climbing gyms.
