Howdy, I’m Jake!
I’m a 4th year Co-op student from the University of Manitoba. I came onboard with SeisWare for an 8 month work term in the role of a Junior Software Developer. I officially became a SeisWarian at the beginning of September, and have been greatly enjoying my time thus far. I am lucky for this fantastic opportunity to grow as an individual as well as a professional in the industry.
As far as the work environment goes, I have been able to learn much in a short time thanks to my fellow SeisWarians, who always take the time to explain the “why” behind whatever question I may have. In my first month alone I already had the opportunity to go skydiving – that’s right, skydiving, with the team. It was a blast! I can really tell that SeisWare is all about communication and holds a strong sense of community. It shows in the passion that people share for the work they do here.
For a little insight into what I’m all about, I love travel and new experiences. Both loves have allowed me to find many different interests that I am passionate about. Recently, I have taken up cooking more seriously than ever before, and I find it to be a great outlet for creativity. I am able to add my own flair to the dishes I create, creating my own variations on recipes. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I’m also a big foodie, which compliments my love for travel, as I have been able to try many dishes from Europe, to the Middle East and all the way to East Asia as well. On the more ‘fun’ side of things, I enjoy gaming, snowboarding and tennis. Heck, I even lived in Japan for a year!
Working for SeisWare is really a breath of fresh air, and I look forward to the rest of my time here.
