Position Overview

Since 1997, SeisWare™ International Inc. has successfully grown to be an industry leader in the development, sales, and support of geophysical and geological software within the geoscience industry. From a non-technical standpoint, we are passionate and focused on individual and team growth.

We are looking for co-op software developers to join our team for an 8 or 12-month term starting in September 2024.

As a Co-op Software Developer your key responsibility is to be open and enthusiastic to learning. You need to try new things and ask lots of questions. This is your opportunity to glean as much knowledge as possible and then apply in your continued education.  As much as you are here to help SeisWare with its strategic goals, we are also here to serve you.  The work is challenging and rewarding, and we seek enthusiastic, capable, and motivated students. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our team using Agile methodologies to enhance and modernize diverse applications, ranging in size and complexity
  • Bug fixing, adding new features and taking ownership of projects after prototyping by other teams.
  • Participate in team discussions on design and architecture
  • Attendance and participation in industry events and internal training courses
  • Write documentation on requirements, design, architecture and functionality
  • Learn, grow and have fun

Skills and Qualifications

  • Pride in, and strive to writing simple, maintainable, modular, and well-documented code
  • Passion for working in a team and writing quality software
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English to ensure strong team functioning through clarity of communication and active participation in discussions.
  • Working towards a degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong academic standing with minimum 3.0/4.0 or equivalent

Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of Windows application development
  • Some knowledge of C++/MFC/Qt or C#/.NET
  • You are curious! You are not afraid to dive in to learn and try new things
  • An interest in production-level architecture and design

Remote Work

We are Calgary based. We will consider allowing remote work.

  • Currently about 1/3 of our workforce are working in the office at varying times
  • If working remotely, there are some basic IT requirements that individuals must have:
    • Windows 10 system with current updates
    • Webcam, microphone, dual monitors
    • Up-to-date antivirus suite (Symantec, Norton, McAfee, Defender)
    • Graphics card and drivers supporting OpenGL 4.2 or higher (if developing or using SeisWare applications locally)
    • 16 GB RAM (minimum) 32 GB (ideal)
