AAPG Presentation Schedule – Booth 733

Click tabs below for the booth schedule for each day.

We’re excited to feature a number of guest speakers at our booth this year, and to show a sneak preview of our newest product, Well Pad Planning.

May 21, 2018

Presenter: Amber Padilla, SeisWare Inc.
Integrated Workflows in Unconventional Reservoirs

Discover how geologic and geophysical integration software seamlessly share data through unconventional workflows including regional production analysis, velocity modeling, integration with engineering data, well property distribution utilizing seismic attributes extracted along the well bore, horizontal well planning, and dynamic geosteering.

Guest Presenter: Glenn Winters
Best Practices and Tools for Interpretation in the Permian Basin

Glenn Winters, recently retired chief geophysicist of Fasken Oil & Ranch, will share some of his best practice and workflow ideas. Drawing on over 30 years of experience, five of those using SeisWare, he will share his expertise on identifying geohazards, determining carbonate thickness from attribute volumes, creating accurate depth volumes for horizontal well planning, integrating production data into seismic interpretation, and more.

Presenter: Doug Paul, SeisWare Inc.
Well Pad Planning and Full Field Development in the Bakken

Using SeisWare’s brand new Well Pad Planning tool, Amber will be running multiple what if scenarios and evaluating single well pads and full field plans to demonstrate how you can optimize plans and reduce overall drilling costs.

Presenter: Doug Paul, SeisWare Inc.
CASE STUDY: Seismic Porosity Prediction in Michigan Reefs Revisited

Seismic has proven very effective in delineating structure in Silurian reefs of Michigan. Finding the reef, however, by no means guarantees successful wells. Lack of primary porosity or diagenically salt occluded porosity are the main causes of dry wells in the region. This presentation uses illustrates seismic analysis techniques to identify porous reservoir within the reef. Since the technique was first applied successfully to the C2 reef in 2014, the approach has been applied to other pinnacle reefs in the basin.

Guest Presenters: Michael and Tony Holmes
CASE STUDY: Petrophysical Models as a Complement to Seismic Interpretation

Triple combo logs provide a wealth of information to complement seismic data interpretation, from water saturation and shale volume profiles, to detailed information on the hydrocarbon content of the organic porosity associated with the shales in unconventional reservoirs. By applying the Gassmann and Krief geophysical equations, pseudo-acoustic compressional and shear data are created, even for wells where no acoustic measurements have been made.  From these data, a full suite of mechanical properties, including depth profiles of brittle vs. ductile, becomes available for all wells.

Guest Presenter: Dr. James K. Applegate, Seismic Utensils
Alaska – The NPRA
Excellent Seismic Data – Clear Geological Picture

Using public-domain seismic data from the NPRA and public well data, 3D Imaging Technology LLC reprocessed a set of 6-fold 2D seismic lines to modern standards, including migration and conditioned gathers. Then, using SeisWare and Seismic Utensils AVO-Detect to extract structural, stratigraphic, and attribute information from the reprocessed data, we clearly identified stratigraphic features and hydrocarbon indicators which correlated to a known field.  Using this methodology subsequent new potential targets were identified.
